"I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable - ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor." -- Henry David Thoreau (1817-62) A California native Hans Kegler was born in 1966 in Glendale. Hans’s appreciation of art emerged at an early age. Early childhood memories include his grandmother and Aunt’s paintings and frequent family outings into the vast Mojave Desert. Hans took the opportunity to pursue his love of art and the natural world after spending 10 years rock climbing around the country. His fondness for nature became the catalyst for his art, which soon lured him to painting the outdoors in the late 1990’s. The dream of an artist soon became the dream of becoming a plein air traveling artist. Hans loves to paint directly from nature from numerous places so he paints outdoors almost everyday. With time some of the painted studies are incorporated into making larger studio pieces. One of Hans's mentors is his Uncle Ron Mckee a professional illustrator for thirty plus years. As long as he can paint Hans Kegler will always be reaching further with his artwork so it can achieve greater heights. 2005 "Plein Air Magazine Award of excellence at the "To the dull mind all nature is leaden. To the illumined mind the whole world sparkles with light." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-82) |
